FAQ
How much should I feed my pet?
As a general guide:
- Adult dogs: around 2–3% of their body weight per day
- Adult cats: around 3–4% of their body weight per day
This depends on your pet’s age, activity level, and metabolism.
We recommend splitting the daily amount into 2–3 smaller meals, spaced throughout the day, to support digestion and steady energy.
Can I mix Two of a Kin with their current food?
Yes. If your pet is new to fresh food, we recommend mixing Two of a Kin with their current food at first and increasing the amount gradually over a few days.
Fresh food is naturally different from processed food, so a slow transition helps your pet adjust comfortably. Once fully switched, feed Two of a Kin on its own to get the full benefit of a complete and balanced meal.
Can I mix Two of a Kin with their current food?
No additions needed. Our meals are always complete and balanced and provide all the nutrients your pet needs—just portion, serve, and enjoy.
What’s the difference between kibble, canned, and gently cooked?
- Kibble is highly processed and cooked at high heat, often relying on fillers and additives.
- Canned food is less processed but still heat-treated and shelf-stable.
- Gently cooked food is made with real, human-grade ingredients and cooked at low temperatures to better retain nutrients, flavour, and digestibility.
Should I rotate between different proteins?
Yes, rotating proteins is encouraged. It adds variety, supports balanced nutrition over time, and can help reduce sensitivities—just introduce new proteins gradually and watch how your pet responds.
What should I do if my pet has a sensitive stomach?
Start slow and keep it simple. Begin with one familiar protein, feed smaller portions, and transition gradually over several days. If symptoms continue, pause the switch and reach out to us or your vet for guidance.
How long does the transition usually take?
Most pets adjust within 3–5 days, but some may take up to 7–10 days. Go at your pet’s pace and extend the transition if needed to keep digestion comfortable.
What if my pet refuses to eat at first?
This is normal. Try adding a spoon of boiling water to warm the food and release the aroma.
For the first 24 hours, we recommend feeding only Two of a Kin (no treats or other foods) so your pet can properly adjust. If they’re still hesitant after that, slow down and reach out to us for help.
Can I go straight from kibble to raw, or should I mix them first?
Most pets do best with a gradual mix over 3–5 days, slowly increasing Two of a Kin while reducing kibble.
However, for healthy adult pets, you can also switch straight to Two of a Kin and feed it exclusively for the first 24 hours to help them adjust to fresh food.
Why does my pet poop less on your food?
Because Two of a Kin is more digestible and nutrient-dense. With real, human-grade meat and no fillers, your pet absorbs more of what they eat—so there’s simply less waste left to pass.
Is it normal for their poop to look different after switching?
Yes. Changes in color, size, or firmness are normal during the adjustment period and usually settle once your pet adapts to fresh food.
Where do you source your meat?
We source our meat from trusted, food-grade suppliers, using the same quality standards as food made for people. All ingredients are carefully selected for safety, freshness, and nutritional value.
We never use by-products, fillers, or mystery meats.
Are your meats human-grade?
Yup. They’re good enough for you—though we recommend leaving them to your pet.
Do you use any fillers or preservatives?
Never. We don’t use fillers, by-products, artificial preservatives, or additives. We only use real ingredients your pet was meant to eat.
Why don’t you use sweet potatoes or grains like other brands?
We don’t use fillers, grains, or unnecessary fruits and vegetables (especially for cats) because pets simply don’t need them.
Two of a Kin meals are built around what cats and dogs are biologically designed to eat—real meat, thoughtfully balanced, with nothing added to cut costs or just sound good on labels.
Do you add vitamins or supplements?
Yes. We use our own Two of a Kin nutrient mix, carefully formulated to ensure each meal is complete and balanced.
Our nutrient mix provides essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that may not be consistently present in meat alone—without relying on fillers or unnecessary additives.
What's the difference between single and multi protein recipe?
- Single-protein recipes use one main animal protein, making them easier to digest and ideal for pets with sensitivities.
- Multi-protein recipes combine different proteins to offer more variety and broader nutritional exposure over time.
Are your recipes up to AAFCO standards?
Yes. All Two of a Kin recipes are formulated to meet AAFCO nutritional standards for complete and balanced meals.
Do you use by-products?
Never. Only high-quality meat and organs are on the menu.
